With great delight, i present to you the maiden edition of the Nigerian Journal of Anaesthesia (NJA) to be launched at the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists (NSA) - Annual Scientific Conference and Annual General meeting on 13th November 2024 in Enugu (the Coal City), Nigeria. 

The Nigerian Journal of Anaesthesia (NJA) is the official Journal of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists' and this landmark effort has been long overdue; being a deep yearning from many esteemed members of our dear Society to ensure and advance a viable scientific platform for publication of articles in anaesthesia, critical care and pain management.

It is an open access, peer-reviewed, international journal of Anaesthesia that publishes quarterly scientific manuscripts covering all aspects of anaesthesia, critical care and pain management. It provides a platform for exchange of scientific information that contributes to the advancement of these specialties, and publishes scientific reports that includes Abstract proceedings, Original research articles, Review articles, Case series and reports, Short communications, Letters to the Editor, Book reviews, Continuing Medical Education articles and Practice materials. 

In line with the 2024 World Federation of the Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) global theme of Anaesthesia of “Workforce Wellbeing”, and the 4 pillars of consideration pivotal in its achievement (Education Mentoring, Collaboration, Advocacy), NJA through its publications will no doubt contribute in propagating and strengthening each of the considerations by the parent body. Its scientific publications will aid learning, enhance collaboration and further research, provide templates for better patient management and advocacy to health care managers and policy makers.

NJA seeks high-quality articles from authors within our locality and globally for speedy review. Accepted articles will immediately be published online (advanced publishing) with Digital Object Identifiers (DOI), get indexed in Google Scholar and major academic databases worldwide.
